Pegasus Airlines expand base maintenance partnership
Two dedicated maintenance lines in Sofia to support at least 23 Airbus A320 family aircraft during 2026/27 winter season
Growing partnership includes integrated end-of-lease projects alongside the established C-check program
Pegasus Airlines, one of Europe's fastest-growing low-cost carriers, continues to expand its base maintenance partnership with Lufthansa Technik. During the 2026/27 winter season, Lufthansa Technik Sofia will provide base maintenance services for at least 23 Airbus A320 family aircraft across two dedicated maintenance lines. For the first time under the agreement, two end-of-lease aircraft redelivery projects will also be included, reflecting the continued expansion and increasing complexity of the cooperation between the two companies.
The 2026/27 winter season marks the third year of the multi-year agreement signed in 2024 and reflects the continued growth of a partnership built on mutual trust and operational performance. In addition to the established C-check program, the upcoming maintenance program will include two aircraft redelivery projects supporting the transition of aircraft from Pegasus Airlines to new operators at the end of their lease terms. Traditionally performed separately from scheduled maintenance activities, the redelivery projects have been combined with the established C-check program to support Pegasus Airlines' fleet transition requirements while maximizing operational efficiency.
“As our fleet has grown significantly in recent years, so have our technical operations requirements. Lufthansa Technik has consistently demonstrated the flexibility, quality and reliability needed to support this growth. This expansion marks another milestone in our partnership, combining routine C-check activities with aircraft redelivery projects in a way that supports both our operational and fleet planning objectives. We highly value the close cooperation between our teams and look forward to continuing this successful relationship,” said Kristofer Kuzulidis, Senior Head of Contract and Service Procurement. at Pegasus Airlines.
“Pegasus Airlines' growth journey is also reflected in our cooperation,” said David Sturz, Corporate Sales Director at Lufthansa Technik. “What started with individual maintenance events has evolved into a long-term partnership. Since 2012, we have successfully completed over 100 checks for Pegasus Airlines and the upcoming winter season will mark another important milestone in our collaboration. The integration of end-of-lease projects into the maintenance program is another sign of the trust we have built together and demonstrates our ability to adapt maintenance solutions to our customers’ changing operational needs.”
All services under the agreement will be performed exclusively at Lufthansa Technik Sofia, one of Lufthansa Technik’s key base maintenance facilities for narrowbody aircraft in Europe.
From seasonal checks to two dedicated maintenance lines
The cooperation between Pegasus Airlines and Lufthansa Technik has developed significantly over recent years. Since the partnership began in 2012, Lufthansa Technik has completed more than 100 checks for Pegasus Airlines. For the upcoming 2026/27 winter season, Lufthansa Technik Sofia will perform at least 23 checks across two dedicated maintenance lines, reflecting the airline's continued fleet growth and increasing maintenance requirements.
Beyond the base maintenance activities performed by Lufthansa Technik Sofia, Pegasus Airlines currently utilizes Lufthansa Technik Ecosystem solutions such as AVIATAR and AMOS to further enhance fleet reliability, maintenance planning and operational efficiency. The partnership has also included other technical services in the past, among them landing gear services.
Besides Lufthansa Technik Sofia, where all services under the agreement will be performed, Lufthansa Technik's global base maintenance network comprises major facilities across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Together, these locations provide comprehensive maintenance services ranging from C-, IL- and D-checks for short-, medium- and long-haul aircraft to modifications, cabin upgrades and other customized technical solutions.
