Air Arabia extends its partnership with Lufthansa Technik to engine MRO

Today at the Dubai Airshow, Air Arabia and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract on the long-term provisioning of comprehensive engine MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services for the CFM56-5Bs powering the airline’s 43-aircraft-strong Airbus A320ceo family fleet. Until 2033, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest budget carrier operator will send these engines to Lufthansa Technik’s specialized workshop in Hamburg, Germany, which has already welcomed the first one.

In addition to the engine services, a recently signed agreement with the airline will see Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME) continue to provide comprehensive repairs for nose radomes for another five years. These highly specialized services from the company’s Airframe Related Components (ARC) portfolio cover Air Arabia’s existing and future fleet and fully leverage LTME’s capabilities and expertise with composite material inspection and repair.

The successful business relationship between Air Arabia and Lufthansa Technik began almost exactly a decade ago, when – also at the Dubai Airshow – both partners signed their first ARC services contract, which has been extended several times since then. In 2024, the two companies have already broadened their field of cooperation to a great extent when Lufthansa Technik granted Air Arabia access to its global aircraft parts pool via a multi-year Total Component Services contract.
