Juneyao Group partners with Lufthansa Technik for Engine Maintenance

  • First long-term partnership with Juneyao Group for CFM56 overhaul services
  • Largest exclusive engine maintenance agreement in Lufthansa Technik's history in China

Juneyao Group, one of China’s leading aviation companies, and Lufthansa Technik have entered into an exclusive landmark agreement for comprehensive engine overhaul services, marking the first long-term partnership of its kind between the companies. Covering more than 40 engine events of both Juneyao Air, the group’s legacy carrier, and 9 Air, its low-fare subsidiary, the CFM56 agreement features a range of services including overhauls, condition monitoring, and engineering consultation. This represents the largest engine services commitment in Lufthansa Technik’s history in China.

Under the agreement, the services will be carried out at Lufthansa Technik’s engine shop in Hamburg, Germany, for a combined fleet of CFM56-5B engines for Juneyao Air and CFM56-7B engines for 9 Air, ensuring peak operational readiness for both carriers.

This new partnership builds upon more than a decade of successful collaboration between Lufthansa Technik and Juneyao Group across multiple service areas, including Single Component Maintenance and Mobile Engine Services. With the latest agreement, the cooperation now extends into full engine overhaul support.

The rollover to the latest-generation types such as the LEAP-1B engine is progressing steadily, but its venerable CFM56-7B predecessor is also still going strong and creating demand for MRO capacity. Thus, we are pleased that we can offer SunExpress our enormous expertise for both generations of Boeing 737 powerplants. I’d like to thank our valued customer for its trust in our services and look forward to this new chapter in our journey together.

Junjin Wang, Chairman of Juneyao Group

Winning Juneyao Group as our partner for these exclusive long-term agreements is a tremendous honor and milestone for Lufthansa Technik. This partnership represents our largest commitment in China to date and demonstrates the trust that one of the country’s most dynamic aviation groups places in our engine maintenance expertise. We are excited to support both Juneyao Air and 9 Air in maintaining their operational excellence as they continue to grow and serve their passengers.
