Lufthansa Technik and Emirates extend A380 Base Maintenance Services

  • New contract covers heavy checks through 2030, two dedicated lines operating in parallel
  • Emirates to serve as launch customer for Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ new Clark facility
  • One of the largest agreements by value in Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ history

Lufthansa Technik and Emirates have reaffirmed their long-standing partnership by extending their agreement for the base maintenance of the airline’s Airbus A380 fleet. Under a new multi-year contract, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, the global MRO company’s competence center for widebody base maintenance in Asia, will continue to perform heavy checks on Emirates’ A380 aircraft through 2030.

The program is already underway at Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ existing maintenance facility in Manila, where two dedicated base maintenance lines have been assigned to Emirates. The airline will also become the launch customer for Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ new facility at Clark International Airport, once operations commence.

The agreement is one of the largest by value in the history of Lufthansa Technik Philippines and highlights the strength and continuity of the relationship between the two companies. As the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380, Emirates has relied on Lufthansa Technik’s extensive expertise in heavy maintenance for its flagship double-deck aircraft since 2023. To date, Lufthansa Technik Philippines has successfully completed more than 30 A380 checks for the airline.

Kai Roepke, Vice President Corporate Sales Europe, Middle East and Africa at Lufthansa Technik, stated: “We sincerely thank Emirates for its continued trust and confidence in our organization. This agreement reflects the success of our partnership and the high quality consistently delivered by our teams. As the world’s leading provider of MRO services, we are proud to support the operation of the world’s largest passenger aircraft and to further strengthen our collaboration with Emirates. We look forward to continuing to offer reliable, high-quality maintenance support for the airline’s impressive A380 fleet in the years ahead.”
